Joel Pohjanpalo continued his scoring spree in Italy’s Serie B as he netted Palermo’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Calcio Padova on Saturday.
Pohjanpalo scored the only hit of the match with a nice shot at the end of the opening period, when Antonio Palumbo centered the ball in the box.
The Finnish striker has been on a rampage in recent weeks, as no fewer than eight goals have been scored in the previous six matches. Pohjanpalo now leads Italy’s second-highest league level goal exchange with 12 hits. The second one playing in Modena Ettore Gliozzi is three goals away.
Palermo have won four of their last five matches, and with their sixth consecutive unbeaten run, they moved up to fourth place in the league table. Palermo is five points behind league leader Frosinone.
Palermo goalkeeper Jesse Joronen kept a clean sheet, stopping six shots, while securing the win for his team.
