The fire broke out just after half past six this evening in a house on Koninginneweg. “The fire probably started with a Christmas ornament and later spread to the first floor,” said a fire brigade spokesperson.
This is a detached building. Due to the size and severity of the fire, the fire brigade quickly scaled up to a ‘major fire’.
Two cats in the house
There was a resident in the home at the time and he managed to leave the building safely. Two cats also managed to get away in time. The surrounding buildings have not been evacuated, the spokesperson says.
Around half past six, an hour after the fire broke out, the fire brigade had the situation under control. To be safe, the resident was taken to the hospital for checks.
