Ex-DSV Adler Markus Eisenbichler is still active in sport even after his career. He also has a job with the Federal Police that fulfills him.

Markus Eisenbichler was one of the best ski jumpers in the country and became world champion on the large hill in 2019. The 34-year-old can no longer be found on the hill himself, but rather next to it: as a TV expert for Eurosport. The everyday life of the former DSV Adler has also changed.

Eisenbichler recently told a media panel on his station that he doesn’t miss jumping, but that it remains “a part” of him and that it was a “great time.” The sport wouldn’t let you go even after your career ended, as you can see not only from him, but also from icons like Martin Schmitt and Sven Hannawald. Like Eisenbichler, both are now working as TV experts.

When asked what had changed for him, Eisenbichler said: “I can be a little more relaxed.” He justified this by saying that the pressure that you normally have as a competitive athlete has been removed. However, he also honestly admitted: “People are now putting pressure on themselves elsewhere for this.” He now has different goals than before.

And a different daily routine. This is “very relaxed”. Eisenbichler also revealed exactly what he looks like: “I get up at five, start working at the federal police at six o’clock and then go home between four and six – depending on how much work is required.” Eisenbichler emphasized that his job was “nice.”

This is also because he has pleasant and “great colleagues” and he likes it very much. “I enjoy my free time at the weekend,” continued Eisenbichler. On Instagram he often gives insights into his leisure activities with friends. For example, the ex-DSV Adler was out and about in the mountains this summer or cycling. Around Christmas time he can be found skiing on the slopes.

Finally, Eisenbichler said: “I’ve always said: After my career there’s a nice life waiting for me and I’m just enjoying that now.”
