The Four Hills Tournament is a special event for ski jumpers. Simon Ammann can now take part for the 27th time.

There are two highlights coming up for the world’s best ski jumpers this year: Before the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in February, the Four Hills Tournament is all about the coveted title. Simon Ammann will also be there. Swiss Ski announced this. The 44-year-old is also part of the squad for the tour, as are Gregor Deschwanden, Sandro Hauswirth and Juri Kesseli.

The special thing about Ammann: He is entering his 27th Four Hills Tournament. The four-time Olympic champion landed on the podium twice. Ammann came second in the 2008/09 and 2010/11 seasons.

In an interview with SRF, Ammann said that he wanted to be there until the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo next year. “The Olympics are my big goal. I would never have invested so much energy in January if I hadn’t had a longer-term goal,” said the ski jumping star.

Whether it works remains to be seen. In a conversation with “Olympics.com” a few days ago, the Swiss said: “I’m trying very hard to be there. And I would describe myself as innovative when it comes to getting there.” Ammann has met the standard for the 2026 Olympics, but he knows that other Swiss also want to take part in the major event.

“I think we have a lot of Swiss people who will meet the selection criteria. So it’s very important for me to just improve my technique and my form and keep going. Then we’ll see where that leads,” said the overall World Cup winner of the 2009/10 season.
