TO Wädenswil, on the picturesque shores of Lake Zurich, passers-by were left speechless as they looked up at the sky. It was not a mountain rescue nor a military operation, but a precious bonsai suspended from a helicopter. The owner of a luxury penthouse, having to move house, found himself faced with a logistical dilemma: his own magnificent specimen of Niwakiheavy and bulky, he couldn’t fit through the stairwell or the apartment buildingwithout direct access for traditional cranes.
Moving by helicopter: a “convenient” solution for a luxury tree
Against all odds, the choice to take to the skies was not a millionaire’s whim, but a pragmatic decision. The man explained to the Swiss portal 20 Minutes that, after evaluating various options with a transport company, the helicopter was the only possible means. But the real surprise was the price: transportation cost in the four-digit rangeproving incredibly cheaper than the value of the plant itself. In fact, Niwaki specimens, true jewels of botany, can be valuable between 5,500 and 21,000 euros.
The bonsai that travels in the clouds
The video of the “flying bonsai” immediately invaded social media, triggering irony and amazement. If owning a Japanese garden on the terrace is already a symbol of refinement, transfer a tree with a dedicated flight elevates the concept of moving to a new level of exclusivity. Among those who joked about envy for the treatment reserved for the plant and those who admired the ingenuity, one thing is certain: this bonsai has experienced an adventure that few human beings can recount, confirming that for the love of greenery (and design) there is no obstacle, not even architectural, that cannot be overcome.
