Nicolien van Vroonhoven did something very strange on the day she resigned as a Member of Parliament: she suddenly started running hysterically through the House of Representatives. Why? “Wilders grabbed me.”
The complete implosion of the political party NSC has ensured that Nicolien van Vroonhoven is no longer active in politics. She ran away and something strange happened during her farewell in The Hague: images from NPO Politics, which were repeated in the evening in Arjen Lubach’s TV show, showed her running out of the House of Representatives.
Run to Wilders
We first saw Nicolien in a red suit whirling past the interrupt microphone and then, very suddenly, running out of the room at top speed. Arjen made a funny video of it where we saw Nicolien running through the desert. It was never clear why the woman suddenly started running so hysterically. Until now.
Nicolien is asked about it by de Volkskrant. “That was not because I wanted to leave quickly, but because I wanted to say hello to Wilders. I thought: he probably won’t come to the reception downstairs, so I wanted to speak to him.”
‘He grabbed me’
Why did she want to say goodbye to Wilders so badly? Smiling: “Well, it’s crazy, isn’t it? I don’t know if you’ve seen those photos: he really grabbed me so much. We also had a really good relationship at the Catshuis last fall, even though we were as different as water and fire.”
Their relationship was very good, she says. “Of all the faction leaders, my relationship with Wilders was perhaps the best on a personal level.”
Ruined everything
But Wilders says that Nicolien and her NSC ruined everything, right? “Yes, but he says things on stage and off stage. I can separate that.”
De Volkskrant reproaches: “It almost sounds as if you are going to miss him.”
Nicolien finally: “No, no, no.”
