Yet another unsportsmanlike incident against the world champion at Hofstade: a spectator threw electronic cigarette smoke at him
Mathieu Van der Poel is not fighting in cyclocross: for the 7-time world champion in the specialty, the fourth success of the season arrived in Hofstade, the 15th in a row. Also noteworthy in the Belgian race was the growth of long-time rival Wout Van Aert, who finished in second place in the second race of the season. And yet another unsportsmanlike gesture by a spectator against Van der Poel: a man blew smoke from an electronic cigarette into his face as he passed. This did not prevent Van der Poel from winning, the gesture remains to be condemned without reservation.
