Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe stated in his statement that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be held as planned, another tournament will be held in 2028 instead of 2029, and then the organization will switch to the new calendar to be held every 4 years.
Motsepe also announced that the prize amount given to the team that wins the African Cup of Nations has been increased from 7 million dollars to 10 million dollars.
Motsepe also noted that a new tournament called “African Nations League” will be launched every year starting from 2029 and said, “Historically, the African Nations Cup was the most important source of income for us, but with this new organization, we will now obtain financial resources every year.” he said.
