Bredene plans almost 30 million euros in investments over the next six years. Major prestige projects are not forthcoming: the new administration focuses on an attractive public domain, a social and child-friendly policy and healthy municipal finances, without increasing personal taxes.

After years of heavy investments, such as a new residential care center and a swimming pool, the financial space is limited. According to Alderman for Finance Lucas Vandendriessche (Alternatief24), ambitions had to be adjusted. “We had the dream of working on a village center renovation with the Village master plan, but no money was found for this. We do have a budget for necessary investments such as sewerage works, paving and footpaths.”

The Sas Master Plan will be completed and will cost more than 1.6 million euros. In addition, playgrounds are being renovated and the municipality is looking for a suitable location for youth activities.
