The Special Forces season came to an end in the final episode. A person who passed the camp makes revelations about the behind the scenes of the program to Iltalehte. BEWARE OF PLOT REVEALS!

Special forces– in the final episode of the program, everything learned at the camp was tested in the last individual task of the experimenters. The finalists were a sports reporter Nora Toivothe minister Mika Poutala (kd), ex-boxer Robert Helenius and a floorball player Nico Salo.

The test takers first had to jump from a plane, orient themselves in a two-hour time limit with a trainer Janne Lehtonen to and continue to the next mission areas. Toivo failed to find the place in the given time limit, so he had to be the first to go home.

In addition, the skills of the trainees were tested in, among other things, kayaking, diving, shooting, assembling a weapon in a water tank and a hostage rescue mission.

Based on the multi-step tasks, the trainers evaluate their performance as a whole at the end of the day. Salo was the first to be eliminated by the trainers, as he failed to assemble the weapon in the water tank within the given five-minute time limit.

Helenius’ number tag was also torn off, because he had made mistakes in the hostage rescue mission.

– You made two glaring mistakes: you shot two cameramen. They might as well have been bystanders, trainer Matias Petäistö justified the decision to Helenius.

Only Poutala passed the camp.

Party

Poutala tells Iltalehte that he was surprised that he was the only one to pass the camp. He believed that Helenius and Salo would also pass the camp. He can’t take a stand on whether the trainers made the right decision regarding dropping Helenius and Salo.

– On a bad day, we never saw each other or our performances after we jumped from the plane, says the minister.

– Of course, the trainers make their decisions about what is a sufficient mistake for them, he says.

According to Poutala, they didn’t celebrate their successful performance or the end of the shooting very awkwardly when the cameras turned off. According to the minister, they only ate well with Helenius, Salo, the trainers and the production team.

– When the cameras went off, the trainers changed completely. They were nice guys who didn’t check in all the time anymore, he says.

However, the small-scale celebration started at home. Poutala says that he went to eat at the Hook sports restaurant with his family, acquaintances and Salo.

– Food had been a topic of conversation a lot in the camp when there was so much hunger, Poutala laughs.

Losing weight

Poutala names hunger, little sleep and overall stress as the hardest things in the camp. According to the minister, they received small doses about four times a day. However, sometimes they didn’t get breakfast, dinner or lunch.

The chefs also had to share a pot of food with each other. According to Poutala, they shared the food evenly, except that Helenius got more because of his size.

– Still, he clearly lost the most weight, the minister laughs.

Poutala himself says that he lost a total of about five kilos: 2.5 kilos fell during training about two months before filming, and another 2.5 kilos during the camp. Poutala felt that he recovered well after filming, but he admits that he was still hungry for a while.

– After a week of camp, I was constantly hungry. I ate everything I could get my hands on, he says.

The production was missing

Poutala brings up her and Salo’s escape as the third in the last episode. Having passed the stealth mission, the two were captured by an enemy force at the Kokelai base, but managed to escape. Poutala states that their escape was shown “funny” in the program.

– We were tied in the back seat of the car when the car stopped. I secretly looked under the hood to see if I could escape. Then I went running with my sandals on. Then Nico decided to leave, the minister says.

– I ran to a place where there were no cameras. Then a production guy came over and said I wasn’t allowed to run away. That’s when I decided to surrender because I didn’t want to risk falling, he continues.

According to Mika Poutala, the production person forbade him to continue his escape journey. Four

However, in the same episode, the trainers had emphasized to the probationers to think about running away if such an opportunity arose. Poutala has a theory as to why the production stopped his escape.

– I think it was based on security issues. If I had run off into the woods, no one would have known where I was. I think they hadn’t taken into account that this could actually happen, Poutala reflects.

Orphan’s words

Prime minister Petteri Orpo (kok) took a position on ministers’ participation in reality TV programs in October. Orpo said that he does not see any possibility for ministers to participate in reality TV programs, as they take a lot of time.

Now Poutala says that he discussed the matter with Orpo.

– Orpo sees that it is not possible for the ministers in terms of schedule. I completely understand this. But I wasn’t a minister when I went to the filming, Poutala says, referring to the fact that he was only elected minister in June.

– Now, as a minister, I fully understand that there is no time to go to TV filming, he adds.

Poutala could consider going to reality TV shows, but not during his ministerial term. He would go to the Special Forces program again if, for example, there was an All Stars or winter production season.
