Germany’s best darts professional Martin Schindler confidently won his opening game at the World Cup.
The 29-year-old won 3-1 against English outsider Stephen Burton at Alexandra Palace and thus improved his previously not particularly good World Cup record.
Schindler only lost a bit of control in the second set when he lost 3-0 after being 3-1 in the first set. He then clearly won sets three and four 3-0 and moved on to the next round.
In his first three tournaments he was eliminated in round one. He won one game each in 2023 and 2024 before losing his opening game again in 2025. Schindler is ranked 13th in London, starting the World Cup with more prospects than ever before. In the second round, Schindler will face the winner of the duel between Keane Barry and Tim Pusey.
