After an outstanding preseason, the Washington Commanders were rarely able to convince this year. This was due, among other things, to great bad luck with injuries. For quarterback Jayden Daniels in particular, the season didn’t go as planned.
The season was “super frustrating,” Daniels explained, referring to his injuries, which he said were all the result of unusual accidents that probably couldn’t have been avoided.
Nevertheless, it gnaws at Daniels: “It was a frustrating year, a disappointing year. You learn from it and look forward,” the quarterback still tries to stay positive.
At the beginning of the week, the Commanders decided not to use their playmaker for the rest of the season. The Commanders will play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
Any appearance in the division duel would be too early for Daniels, who is not yet fit to play again after his elbow injury. The commanders then only have a short recovery period. Too short to get Daniels fit. And even in the last game at the beginning of January, the risk is no longer worth it.
NFL: Daniels remains in training
However, Daniels remains on the active roster so he can at least practice with the team. “I’m feeling better,” Daniels said. “But I didn’t meet the criteria to be cleared to play, so I’m now concentrating on getting healthy again and preparing for next year. Longevity is very important, so you have to be smart here,” Daniels said, understanding the team’s decision to waive him.

The young playmaker led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game in his rookie season in 2024 and rightly received the title of Offensive Rookie of The Year.
In the current season, however, due to his many injury problems, he only has 1,262 passing yards and eight touchdowns (3 INT), and he also ran for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
