According to the spokesperson for the Gooi & Vechtstreek Fire Department, the fire started in one of the rooms of the elderly center. Six people suffered smoke inhalation during the fire. Two of them, a resident and employee, were rushed to hospital.
According to the spokesperson, the fire is already under control. There was smoke in the hallways near the room where the fire started. The residents had to stay in their rooms with the windows and doors closed until the fire brigade could remove the smoke. This is to prevent them from inhaling it too.
