As a team, Austria’s ski racers had a strong start to the season. But now there is a small setback for the ÖSV women.

The Austrian women’s team has to do without head coach Roland Assinger for the time being. The 52-year-old sustained a shoulder injury in St. Moritz and has since undergone surgery.

Assinger fell on Friday. Examinations at the Kettenbrücke private clinic in Innsbruck revealed several tendon tears. He is expected to miss the team for up to four weeks following the procedure.

During this time, the ÖSV’s sporting director, Christian Mitter, will take over the duties of head coach. “I will now be more present with the women and try to support the team as best as I can until Roland returns,” he said. Mitter has already worked as women’s head coach for the ÖSV in the past.
