Important dimensions, a look that defined a genre with the first generation in 2007 and which is still among the most appreciated today. The six-cylinder petrol version is capable of sporting performance: it features a 381 HP engine, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds
The third generation of the BMW X6, the iconic model resulting from one of the provocations and intuitions born from the pencil of Chris Banglesaw an update last year that touched on some details and renewed the range of engines: in addition to the diesel engines, which have always been the most popular on the X6, but limited by the restrictions present in some large cities, this latest update makes available a version mild hybridin which together with the six-cylinder in-line from 3 litres capable of delivering more 380 HPthe engine compartment features a little electrical help from 48V. Obviously you travel pampered by a welcoming interior, even if small in size compared to the very large external ones, with top technology and comfort.
1How it’s made
—
Updated in 2024 with the mid-career restyling, the BMW X6 has generous dimensions, with a length of 4960 mma width of 2000 mma height of 1700 mm and a step of almost 3000 mmwhich leaves a fair amount of legroom for rear passengers. The X6 is popular because for some years now, SUVs with sloping roofs have prevailed over “classic” models. Rule also confirmed for the X5 which, with the roof cut, transforms into Sac (Sports Activity Coupé) and we like it more, even if we sacrifice a little roominess in the rear and boot capacity. Under the bonnet we find a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, combined with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the system 48V mild hybrid adds a small boost in maximum torque. The card has sports car characteristics, as the over 380 HP and 520 Nm of torque push it to a speed of 250 km/h self-limited and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in just a few seconds 5.4 seconds. The trunk, despite the sloping roof, between space under and above the floor starts from 580 litresreaching a maximum capacity of 1530 liters by folding down the rear backrests. The infotainment system is complete and very fast, which also includes games, as well as Youtube and Spotify.
2How is it going
—
The X6 is a car that doesn’t compromise: you either love it or hate it. For example, the external dimensions and the configuration of the rear window in the absence of the cameras would make maneuvers very complicated (you can also take advantage of the possibility of memorizing the maneuvers and retracing them backwards), but the pleasure of traveling in a tall, imposing and decidedly lively car when driving when you want to exploit its six cylinders, all with a luxurious interior, it is difficult to find in other cars. The quality of the interior is to be commended, as is the space in the compartments for storing objects, while those who may suffer from the sloping roof are the rear passengers if they are tall. When driving, you appreciate the simple and intuitive gearbox and an engine that can be sporty when you press the accelerator all the way down, but also smooth and silent when traveling in traffic or on just a touch of gas.
3Conclusions and prices
—
As for pricing, the X6 xDrive40i MSport starts at 97,500 euros. By opting for diesel engines you save 2 thousand euros for the 30d with 298 HP, while you save 99,100 euros for the 40d with 352 HP. The top of the range versions are the M60i from 530 HP and 122,700 euros, and the X6 M Competition from 167 thousand euros and 625 HP. Consumption, for a sports SUV of significant size, is not even that “exaggerated”, because the six-cylinder allows you to travel even 12 km/l in extra-urban driving.
