The accident happened around 7.20 pm on the N8, just inside the built-up area of Elverdinge. The car drove in the direction of Brielen, left the track, crossed the road and came to a stop against a tree in the canal.
Westhoek Fire Department was called to provide assistance. The woman was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the fire brigade. The girl was not trapped, but was injured.
