Audi will be taking part in Formula 1 from next season. Now the new racing team has revealed the first information.
Audi has announced the official name of its new Formula 1 racing team as “Audi Revolut F1 Team”. The team wants to present Audi in Berlin on January 20th. In addition to unveiling the racing livery and visual appearance, Audi is planning a public event where fans can witness the premiere.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner described the unveiling of the name and logo as “another important milestone on our way to the premier class of motorsport.” Team boss Jonathan Wheatley also sees this as an “important milestone” that makes the project and long-term ambitions more tangible. Audi had already presented the design concept for Formula 1 in November. The R26 concept car was available in titanium, carbon black and red, with the Audi rings also in red.
Audi takes over the traditional Swiss Sauber team and pursues ambitious goals. The German manufacturer wants to fight for the world championship title by 2030. The team’s sporting fortunes are led by former Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto and former Red Bull man Wheatley. The experienced German driver Nico Hülkenberg and the Brazilian talent Gabriel Bortoleto were hired as drivers. The season opener is scheduled for March 8th in Melbourne.
