The newly crowned Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris is now switching to vacation mode after winning the title. Above all, he wants to forget one thing.
The long season is finally over – now what? Lando Norris has shared insight into his vacation planning for the World Cup winter.
“Actually, the next few weeks are pretty simple. We’ll review everything. There are still a lot of things that we know we would have liked to have done better,” Norris told BBC Sport.
The McLaren driver was surprisingly self-critical: “I know that here and there I would have liked to have made a slightly different decision.” All of this will now be collected and analyzed. “We kind of throw all of these things into a little pile and make quick assumptions and predictions,” he continued.
But he had marked an appointment in his calendar. “Then the FIA Awards are coming up. I’m looking forward to that because I think it’s the first time I’ll be able to touch the trophy. That’s something I’m very excited about.” He is also really looking forward to his racing team’s Christmas party.
Formula 1: Lando Norris finally wants to switch off
Last Sunday, Norris secured his debut title with third place in Abu Dhabi ahead of Max Verstappen and team-mate Oscar Piastri.

After the FIA Awards (which took place on Friday) and the Christmas party, the Brit plans to switch off completely and clear his head. “Then I’m going away with all my friends. We’re going skiing. I’ll pick up my injuries early,” he joked.
“I’m just enjoying the time with the people you’ve probably seen a lot on TV in the last few days – my parents, my brother and my sisters. And to be honest, I’m trying to forget this season. Forget that I’m driving in Formula 1.”
Norris continued: “I don’t want to forget what we achieved this season, but just try to have a few normal days a year. I’m taking a lot with me from this year. A lot of things that I know I could and should have done better. But in the end I did what I had to do.”
