Joao Almeida will be the captain of Uae-XRG at the Giro d’Italia 2026. The Portuguese, born in 1998, had revealed himself in the pink race of 2020, when he had been in command for a long time before finishing in fourth place: then he placed sixth in 2021, and third in 2023, before finishing in second place in the 2025 Vuelta behind Jonas Vingegaard. Almeida will come to the Giro, which starts on Friday 8 May from Bulgaria, with the aim of winning it and then he will also be at the start of the Vuelta. Isaac Del Toro, on the other hand, the 22-year-old Mexican who took 2nd place in the 2025 Giro d’Italia, will make his debut at the Tour de France alongside captain Tadej Pogacar, who will be chasing his fifth success in France.
