Marco Borsato was ‘caught’ in the driveway of his ex Leontine Ruiters a few hours after his acquittal. Well, caught… The two are clearly posing in front of Edwin Smulders’ lens. A PR plan?
Now that Marco Borsato has been acquitted of fornication with an underage girl, it is inevitable that he is slowly thinking about performing again. After all, there are few professions in the Netherlands that bring in money as easily as that of an artist. He can sell out large halls with the greatest of ease and that is a huge one cashcow.
Picture perfect
It is important for an artist to appeal to the masses, and many people seem to have the idea that Marco was a bit framed by his accuser’s mother. She suddenly came up with the abuse accusation when the singer fired her as the chairman of his fan club.
For extra goodwill Marco now very willingly poses for the camera of Story paparazzo Edwin Smulders. He and his ex-lover Leontine Ruiters are standing picture perfect on the cover of the magazine as they hold each other intimately. They look straight and quite over-posed into Edwin’s camera (see below).
Extremely close
Story boss Guido den Aantrekker thinks the photos are beautiful. “It is clear from those photos that Marco and Leontine are still very close. There was also a lot of emotion involved. Leontine was not keeping a dry eye either, as you can see in the photos,” he says at the desk of Show news.
The photos were taken after the acquittal. “He then first went home to Alkmaar. There he first put on another coat and got his car. Then he indeed drove to Het Gooi.”
Emotional
Edwin Smulders says that it was a wonderful moment, there in Leontine’s driveway. “He was very emotional. You can see that in the photos. She really fell into his arms. It was of course a very special moment for them.”
The paparazzo was already waiting for the singer. “Marco drove up in his Porsche. He first went home to get his car and then he drove to Leontine. I just got out. I just stood in front of the door. I think Jada arrived half an hour later.”
Special
It seems that Edwin almost shed a tear too. “It was just very special, also to be there. It is of course a really private moment, but I still have to take that photo.”
“He had to laugh. I said: ‘Yes, you say in the cameras that you are going to your family, so I actually expected more colleagues here.’ He says: ‘Yes, that was just very well heard and very well interpreted by you.’”
