Roberto Benigni has returned to Tg1 giving one of the funniest moments of the evening. Guest to present his new show on Rai 1 Pietro – A man in the windthe Tuscan comedian transformed the interview into a little show, starting with a request that surprised everyone: being able to sit in place of the presenter Emma D’Aquino. “I’ve always dreamed of becoming the ‘announcer of Tg1′”, he joked, asking the journalist to give him her seat for a moment. The news presenter, smiling, agreed and Benigni sat down at the desk of the most followed news program in the country, having fun improvising a closing like a true anchorman.

The key moment came in the final goodbyes, when Benigni, betrayed by his enthusiasm, is stumbled upon a gaffe which made the audience smile: right before closing, ha thanked Pope Franciswho passed away last April 21st, instead of the current Pope Leo XIV. The latter saw Pietro – A man in the wind previewed in the Vatican together with Roberto Benigni and included Life is beautiful in the list of his favorite films. In short, it is to be believed that Leone can forgive the Tuscan actor with a certain ease. After all, he is used to listening to much worse sins.
