A dead wolf was found on the Doldersummerveld this morning, Staatsbosbeheer reports. It is the second day in a row that a dead wolf has been found in the municipality of Westerveld, after one was found yesterday near the Dwingelderveld.

The wolf was found along the Huenderweg, between Doldersum and Wateren. The police are investigating the cause of death of the animal in collaboration with the implementation organization BIJ12.

The province of Drenthe announced on Tuesday that a shooting permit is being prepared for ‘problem wolf’ GW4890m. This wolf is a descendant of the pack in the Drents-Friese Wold and attacked sheep near Beilen at least four times in the past period. This happened despite the sheep being behind an approved wolf-resistant fence.

It is not yet known whether the wolf found yesterday or the animal found today is the ‘problem wolf’ in question and what the causes of death are. The wolves were found about fifteen kilometers apart.
