Swedish cross country star Frida Karlsson has made an exceptional investment for the value competition season that is already underway.

A 26-year-old skier has acquired a roller ski carpet system for his own garage, the price of which is Expressen’s including about 55,000 euros. However, Karlsson did not reveal himself how much he spent on his new device.

The features of the device are impressive: it reaches a speed of 40 kilometers per hour and an ascent angle of up to 20 percent, which enables precisely controlled exercises regardless of the weather conditions.

– I think it’s an investment and I hope it will help me in my goal, Karlsson commented on his acquisition to Expressen.

The acquisition attracted attention

Karlsson’s solution has been considered particularly closely in Norway, which has dominated cross-country skiing in recent years. Tiril Udnes Weng described the device for TV2 “as an everyday luxury”. Former top skier Petter Northug on the other hand stated that the acquisition was “a clear signal to competitors”.

At least according to TV2, they own a similar device Johannes Thingnes Bø mixed Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

Karlsson says that the roller mat has also been used diligently by others.

– It’s easy to tell when the weather is bad outside, because I immediately get a message asking if I can borrow a rug, he tells Expressen with a smile.

The Swede already has an impressive list of achievements: three World Championship golds, a Tour de Ski victory and several World Cup victories. However, Olympic gold is still unattainable, and according to Karlsson, that is exactly the direction the new device is aiming.
