Red card against Kiel
DFB imposes ban on BTSV defender

The red card for Lukas Frenkert sparked a lot of discussion in the game against Holstein Kiel. He will be missing from Eintracht Braunschweig for the time being. The DFB now decided how long.
And once again a top performer is missing on the defensive: Eintracht Braunschweig will have to do without defender Lukas Frenkert next Friday in the away game against Dynamo Dresden (kick-off: 6:30 p.m.). The defender was suspended for a championship game by the DFB sports court.
The 25-year-old was shown a red card in the 43rd minute of the home game against Holstein Kiel (1-1) on Sunday because of an emergency brake. The sending off caused some discussion around the game.
Frenkert moved from Preußen Münster to Braunschweig in the summer. Since then he has appeared in eight competitive games and scored one goal. In the meantime, a torn muscle bundle had slowed him down for weeks. He only made his comeback against Hertha BSC (0-1) at the end of November.
In any case, Eintracht had to struggle with a few failures in the early phase of the season, especially on defense. Frederik Jäkel, who is on loan from RB Leipzig, is still missing indefinitely due to a cruciate ligament injury. Eintracht accepted the ban for Frenkert. The judgment is therefore legally binding.
