The shine has worn off a bit from Linda de Mol. In the twilight of her TV career, the presenter relies exclusively on old successes, so she will not like the fact that one of them, Gooische Vrouwen, was badly criticized last night at the desk of Show news. Story boss Guido den Aantrekker thinks the series is in serious decline.

‘It’s getting weaker’

Guido makes no bones about it. “I have to be honest: I personally think… I watch this series at home and I think it has really deteriorated in quality. It used to be, I thought, a very original, wonderfully witty series. If you know the Gooi a little, you will recognize a lot.”

He continues: “There are of course two very good writers and Will Koopman is of course the best. Look at Oogappels, which she also makes, of course. But I think it is getting a bit weaker. I think that’s a shame.”

Writer’s Press

Patty Brard is also at the desk and she is friends with Gooische Vrouwen writer Will Koopman, who was also behind her Patty series. “You should also make no mistake that there is enormous writing pressure, because she does so much. She does Eyeballs, she does this, you name it.”

Not a valid excuse, Guido thinks. “Then she has to slow down a bit, because you do it for the viewers, right? You don’t do it for yourself or your CV. Noblesse oblige. I think Gooische Vrouwen is such a unique thing that you actually have to hit every episode.”

Aunt Cor

Gooische Vrouwen is starting to rely more and more on creative laziness, Guido thinks. “Aunt Cor driving slapstick through the Gooi for the fourth time in that Jaguar… Yes, I saw it at some point. Then I know.”

A spin-off of Gooische Vrouwen with Tante Cor in the leading role could work, the Story boss decides.
