KIEL (dpa-AFX) – With a Federal Council initiative, Schleswig-Holstein wants to call on the federal government to step up its climate protection. According to Prime Minister Daniel Günther, the black-green coalition agreed on a corresponding Federal Council initiative.
The state is demanding that the federal government guarantee planning security in all areas and show how the climate goals should be achieved, said the CDU politician. “Because we realize that there is a great need for many companies to have this clarity.”
Especially in the areas of buildings and transport, the achievement of the climate goals in Schleswig-Holstein is closely linked to the federal and EU requirements. The expansion of renewable energies should not come to a standstill either. Günther demanded: “We don’t expect any wobbling, but rather a clear adherence to the goals.”
In the initiative, the northernmost federal state advocates introducing emissions trading for buildings and transport from 2027. Another focus is on reducing energy prices, especially the electricity tax for all consumers. This would make electricity-based technologies more competitive and strengthen acceptance of the energy transition, it said./xil/DP/mis
