Laura Huhtasaari’s choice of handbags at Linna’s party has divided opinions. A style expert will tell you if it was an etiquette mistake.

The castle party is the biggest and perhaps the most festive event organized in Finland every year. The official dress code is party dress, which includes a tailcoat for men and a full-length evening dress for women, made of festive material, closed-toe party shoes and a small hand-held party bag.
For this reason, some of those who watched the party on television drew their attention to the MP Laura from Huhtasaari (ps.) to a brown leather handbag that didn’t look like a small bag according to party etiquette. Was it a label error?
– Huhtasaari’s suit was minimalist and had a nice ball pattern, which is also repeated on the bottom of the bag. The hair ornament also had a ball pattern. If we’re talking about breaking etiquette, I don’t think it’s the worst, comments a clothing designer, stylist and style consultant at the request of Iltalehti Eeva Koljonen.
So the bag is clearly designed with this whole party outfit in mind. That makes it party-worthy.
– After all, it’s different, but you see a lot of other very different things at those parties, so this was from the very beginning. In my opinion, it wasn’t the worst style mistake possible. However, the bag is neat and the idea is repeated according to the outfit.
Koljonen states that even though the bag is not the envelope size mentioned on the label, it fits Huhtasaari’s minimalist outfit.
– However, it’s not a large oversize bag taken out of the closet at random.
Huhtasaari’s choice of bag was also stylistically current, because in the wake of Hermès’ Birkin and Kelly bags, the traditional “moomin-mammy” handbag model with a carrying handle is very trendy again.
In Koljonen’s opinion, the worst etiquette mistake you could make with a bag when dressing for a party would be to choose a bag that is untidy and inappropriate for the outfit.
– One that clearly breaks the look of the whole outfit in a bad way. That if the rest of the outfit has been thought about, but the bag was only taken because of its storage feature, for example.
