We ride with our grandsons aged 6 and 7 on the back of our bicycles past a secondary school where many fat bikes are parked. The boys will never get a fat bike, they say. They apparently pick up on the annoyance surrounding these vehicles and do not want to participate in it.

I want to challenge them a bit by saying: “Well, when I grow up I will buy a fat bike.” Says the youngest of six: “Grandma, you’re already late…”
