SBS 6 has artificial intelligence was used to add the men of Today Inside to the traditional Christmas film full of smiling TV stars, but whether that was successful? “Looks like twenty years older.”
It is a bit silly: every year the men of Today Inside make a big fuss about recording the traditional Christmas video of SBS 6, in which we see the stars of the channel having a lot of fun with each other. Then they think it’s too early in the day, then too late in the day, then they prefer it on another day, etcetera etcetera.
Whining VI stars
The VI trio is always complaining a lot and this year they were so fed up with it at SBS 6 that they simply sent the gentlemen through AI added to that Christmas video. The result was on display for the first time last night Today Inside (see below), where the gentlemen also expressed their judgment.
Wilfred Genee: “It’s now time for the Christmas promo. It’s not really us. We’re AI, or A1 as Johan says. See if you can recognize it!”
Twenty years older
After the video, Wilfred asks his colleague Johan Derksen what he thinks. “Did you feel good about yourself, Johan?”
Johan: “Well, I recognized myself. René has become twenty years older. I am really 76, but René is now suddenly my age.”
Wilfred: “Yes, this is all incredible.”
Pretty clever
However, Johan does not want to shut things down. “On the other hand, it is clever and it is quite a nice film.”
René van der Gijp: “Of course.”
The AI version of the VI gentlemen seems quite good in the case of Johan and Wilfred, although René is indeed a bit of a failure. You can see the end result below.
