– The suit looks more fitting and suitable in every way, as long as the lengths are textbook-correct.
According to Kuusela, there are slightly different schools of thought when it comes to whether you prefer a more modern or classic style.

– If narrow pants are too long, they bag ugly. On the other hand, in wider pants, the small baggyness that remains on the shoes does not bother so much, because it fits the whole thing better.
The material matters
When you want to recognize a high-quality suit, you should also pay attention to the material of the suit. Cheap artificial fiber fabric is easy to catch the eye.
Instead, a high-quality natural material, such as the right kind of wool fabric, falls beautifully on the wearer.
– Even through television, you can see that the natural material, which is made of good, long fiber, settles in a completely different way than some of the rental jackets, which are made of artificial fiber. They are much stiffer on the user, says Kuusela.
According to him, the descent of the garment is best seen when people dance at Linna’s parties.
– The better the garment moves, the more valuable it looks, at least to my eyes.
A good suit doesn’t always need a new one
In addition to fit and material, Kuusela takes into account the looseness of the suit.
– If the lengths are correct, next I look at the looseness, that there is enough room at the waist. Too small always looks much worse than a little too loose.
A successful choice of suit does not always require buying a new one, although many may think so. Kuusela, who sells vintage and second-hand clothes, has often come across the prejudice that a perfectly fitting suit should be ordered for yourself from the start.
However, it is often possible to get a suitable one from a used suit with a little tailoring.
– Leg and sleeve lengths are often modified. Especially if the suit needs to be made smaller, there is a really good chance of getting it almost as fitting as a tailor’s suit.

The change also works in the other direction.
– A high-quality and well-made second-hand suit can usually be made to fit, because they often have large seam allowances that allow editing in both directions.
“Frock coat is the best option”
The dress code for parties in the castle is party dress, which means a tailcoat or a dark suit for men. It is customary to see presidents in a tailcoat, which is the most formal outfit for the occasion.
Many guests replace the tailcoat with a dark suit, especially if the tailcoat is seldom used.
Still, Kuusela hopes that as many tailcoats as possible can be seen at Linna’s party – although he reminds that a well-fitting dark suit is always presentable.
– I myself am more inclined to dress classically, and Linna’s party is one of the few occasions where you can wear the finest outfit according to etiquette, i.e. a tailcoat. That’s why I would respect it for its dignity, says Kuusela.
– A tailcoat is the finest and most classic option. The castle party might not be the place to go to show off the most special costume.
