The Eisbären Berlin defeated the penultimate Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League on Friday evening after a period of tremors.

Coach Serge Aubin’s team underlined their status as favorites with an early 1-0 win. Yannick Veilleux used a rebound to take the lead (6th). The Berliners were even able to expand on that shortly before the end of the first third. With the advantage, Andreas Eder deflected a shot from Les Lancester just seconds before the siren to make it 2-0 (20th).

In the second third, former polar bear Daniel Fischbuch was able to reduce the score to 1:2 for the Roosters (24th), but Liam Kirk had an answer for the Berliners less than two minutes later and made it 3:1 (26th). But the penultimate team took advantage of the German champions’ small inattention: Robin Norell (38th) and Kyle Wood (40th) ensured tension before the final section with the 3-3 draw.

After Marcel Noebels hit the post in another power play, Leo Pföderl put the capital team back in the lead with 4:3 (52nd). Shortly afterwards, Eder secured the victory for the Eisbären with his second goal of the evening.

The Berlin team continues with another home game on Sunday (2 p.m.) against newly promoted and bottom-placed Dresden Eislöwen.
