Thierry Bouckenooghe is chairman of the Groenpark district in Roeselare. He shows us the emergency container, ready for use in the event of a sudden flood. In 2016, the neighborhood was surprised by the rising water of the Collievijverbeek. Six houses were flooded then. Since then, the district has been on standby, day and night. Thierry Bouckenooghe, Groenpark Roeselare Neighborhood Committee: “In such a threatening situation, we immediately move to a kind of crisis center in our neighborhood. We place it somewhere in a home and so we are immediately in contact with the city of Roeselare. There are also thirty people who actively cooperate. They are standby to help where necessary.”
