John van den Heuvel played a major role in canceling Marco Borsato. What on earth will happen if these two ever meet again in the showbiz world?

Wow: John van den Heuvel has lost a lot of credibility for the umpteenth time. He played a very questionable role in the cancellation of Marco Borsato. After all, the abuse accusations against him were only taken seriously when the Telegraaf journalist started shouting that there was a lot of evidence.

John responds

Well, all that so-called evidence has been dismissed by the judge in one go: Marco has been acquitted. “The judge was very clear in his judgment. There was insufficient evidence and supporting evidence to convict him,” he now says in front of the camera of RTL Boulevard.

John now suddenly withdraws his comment: “I never said that I was convinced that the judge would acquit or convict. That is not up to me. That is up to the judge. That is how it should be. I have always said: ‘I believe what she says.’”

Sabotage

During the hearing, Marco was very critical of the questionable role of John, who had contact with the complainant before the report was filed. “Marco Borsato saw it as a sabotage of his defense and that is why he was angry. I understand his emotion in that regard, but that was factually incorrect.”

What if John ever meets the singer in showbiz? “I would greet him kindly, for sure. I don’t know if I will get a greeting in return, he will not be happy with me or with colleagues of mine who have reported for him in a certain way in a negative way. But yes, that is inherent to what happened.”

Clarice critical

TV gown Clarice Stenger is critical. “Yes, that is his reaction. We were just talking about the reliability of the complainant and the court of course said something about that. It did say: ‘She has filed a report and had contact with third parties. That makes it more difficult for us to test that reliability.'”

“John believed her very much and also indicated here that he believed there was enough evidence in this case and he assessed this very differently than the court did.”

Canceled too quickly

Johan Derksen calls in Today Inside that John needs to think about it. “I think John van den Heuvel should also consider acting as an advisor to those people. He showed them the way and coached them.”

“It is another sign that the media is canceling far too quickly. They are far too often taking the place of a prosecutor. It is really irresponsible.”
