On the occasion of the (long) Immaculate Conception weekend 2025with December 8th falling on a Monday, many Italians will be traveling and going to holiday destinations to enjoy a few days of relaxation. For this reason, an increase is expected traffic these days, with many road users making short or medium distance journeys. During the long weekend of the Immaculate Conception, approximately 31.4 million trips of vehicles towards mountain resorts, provincial capitals and shopping centers for shopping and/or trips to the Christmas markets. On this long weekend in December, along the routes managed by the National Autonomous Roads Company, he is expected constantly increasing traffic: Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for travel to and from large urban centres; Monday afternoon for returns to the big cities. The itineraries affected, on Friday and Saturday, are in a southerly direction towards the provincial towns, in particular along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges and out of urban centres. The intensification of traffic may concern the main Anas itineraries: the A2 “Mediterranean Motorway” which crosses Campania, Basilicata and Calabria; the state roads 106 Jonica and 18 Tirrena Inferiore in Calabria; the A19 Palermo-Catania and A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorways in Sicily; the state road 131 Carlo Felice in Sardinia; the state road 148 Pontina nel Lazio, a particularly busy artery which together with the SS7 “Appia” ensures connections between Rome and the tourist resorts of lower Lazio; the E45 itinerary (SS675 and SS3 bis) which affects Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and connects the north east with central Italy; the routes SS1 Aurelia (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria), SS16 Adriatica (Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto). To the north, the RA13 and RA14 motorway junctions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia towards the border crossings, the SS36 of Lake Como and Spluga in Lombardy, the SS45 of Val Trebbia in Liguria, the SS26 of Valle D’Aosta and the SS309 Romea between Emilia-Romagna and Veneto and the SS 51 of Alemagna in Veneto. The ban on the transit of heavy vehicles is in force Sunday 7th and Monday 8th December from 9am to 10pm.
