New documents and photos from Syria show how doctors under the regime of ousted dictator Bashar al-Assad helped cover up torture and deaths in detention centers, and some of them are active in Europe today. The information comes from an international investigation based on material collected by Syrian intelligence services around Damascus. It was obtained by German broadcaster NDR and shared with The Times, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and other international media.
