The minimum youth wage for young people aged 16 to 20 will be increased as of January 1, 2027. The cabinet decided this last spring decision-making. As of today, you can respond to this proposal via internet consultation.

With the planned increase, the government is ensuring that young people will benefit financially. The overview below shows the current percentages of the minimum youth wage and the percentages with which the minimum youth wage will be derived from the minimum wage from 2027.

The minimum youth wage will be adjusted via an Order in Council (AMvB). In the same Order in Council, the (now lower) minimum youth wage for students in the vocational training program (BBL) in secondary vocational education is also brought into line with the regular minimum youth wage. In addition, a minimum youth wage percentage of 55% of the minimum wage for 15-year-olds is being introduced in the Caribbean Netherlands, where no minimum wage percentage has currently been set for this age.
