Carlo Boszhard has often desperately expressed that he would like to become the channel boss of RTL 4. Will he soon take the place of Peter van der Vorst, who was promoted away? “No, too old.”

Almost seven years ago, Carlo Boszhard saw his dream of succeeding Erland Galjaard as channel boss of RTL 4 go up in smoke. It was Peter van der Vorst. Quite a shame, although the same Peter ensured that Carlo’s career as a TV star was completely resuscitated. He is completely part of it again, and he owes that entirely to Peter.

Dream job

Now that Peter has been promoted away, Carlo will undoubtedly hope that he is in the crosshairs for his successor. “Make a comedy, really act, direct, become a program director at RTL 4. No, there are still plenty of things I would like to do,” he said in 2010.

And in 2016, three years before Peter was appointed, Carlo said: “I find what Erland Galjaard does at RTL 4, building and programming a channel, very interesting. Making decisions about whether or not to broadcast programs, at what time and with which faces, that is the job.”

“He can do it!”

The name of Carlo, who once showed his penis to the RTL management, is now mentioned here and there. “Who could be the successor?” asks Luuk Ikink, for example RTL Boulevard.

Colleague Eddy Zoëy then: “Carlo Boszhard.”

Luuk: “That could be it and he has been mentioned before, right?”

Eddy: “That’s what I mean.”

TV expert Rob Goossens: “He has indeed been mentioned before, but I think he also really enjoys being on stage during musicals, for example, and you no longer have time for that when you are content director of RTL. Look before you leap, Carlo Boszhard.”

Ralph de Beurs

What does TV authority Tina Nijkamp think? “It is known at RTL that they really like to look internally. Someone internally who has achieved a lot there is of course Ralph de Beurs, as co-creator of B&B Vol Liefde, among other things,” she says in her podcast Tina’s TV Update. “I do think he is a good contender.”

“I also think that Justine Huffmeijer would be a very good candidate. She previously worked in the program department of RTL and is now the director of SimpelZodiak. She has a lot of experience in the broadcasting field and in the producer field. So she knows a lot about budgets and how to make something cheapest.”

And what about Carlo?

And what about 56-year-old Carlo? According to Tina, he is not an option? “I think that Carlo Boszhard, who applied himself, has little chance, because he is a bit older. If I were DPG, I would look for someone under 50, because at RTL the program management is on the old side. I hope it will be someone a bit younger.”

Tina herself is 53 years old and therefore too old according to her own age limit. Does she want? “No, it’s absolutely not for me. I’m certainly not going to apply for a job. I’m very happy with where I am now.”
