The viewing figures of RTL Tonight are shocking every evening and according to TV critic Victor Vlam, this is partly due to the overdose of royalties that the viewer is presented with. “19 times Josine!”
While the RTL Tonight viewer was initially bombarded with Astrid Holleeder’s superficial ‘analyses’, it is currently royalty fan Josine Droogendijk who sits at the table every now and then. She is there almost every evening to tell what King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima did that day. Isn’t all that going a bit far?
Josine overdose
TV critic Victor Vlam doesn’t think it’s newsworthy enough. “One of the shortcomings of RTL Tonight is the abundance of royalty topics. It’s really getting out of control. I think Josine Droogendijk is quite a talent, but tonight she was at the desk for the 19th (!!!) time. Only 3 interpreters have been there before,” he says. X.
He continues: “It is really unwise because it often doubles with Boulevard, where there is also an enormous amount of attention for royalty. It is bizarre how much royalty news you are presented with when you watch RTL 4 for an evening.”
‘No Jandino!’
Rens Muller, editorial director of De Gooi- en Eemlander, is bothered by something completely different. “RTL Tonight scares viewers away even more by inviting Jandino Asporaat.”
