Marco Schuitmaker, known for the hit Guardian Angel, was mercilessly screwed by Audi at the beginning of his career. They no longer wanted to help him under warranty. “Kilometers too many!”
It is important for Marco Schuitmaker to drive a nice car, and because he gives many performances throughout the country, he also needs a good means of transport. That is why he invested seriously in this at the beginning of his career. However, his first expensive car caused a major financial setback, he says in the Beau Monde.
100,001 kilometers
Marco was screwed really hard by the dealer after buying his first expensive Audi. Asked about his biggest financial failure, he says: “A car. I bought an Audi A3, but the gearbox broke almost immediately. It cost 7,000 euros to repair. I had a warranty up to 100,000 kilometers and it had just driven 100,001.”
So the trip to the dealer killed him. “Very sad, because I was very proud when I bought it. And I barely had any money at the time.”
Audi Q8
Yet Marco remained loyal to the car brand, even when he started earning more money. He says he spends money easily. “Yes. I like beautiful things. When I became successful, I bought a house and a good car to go to shows: an Audi Q8. I also like to spend money on clothes.”
He likes to wear expensive brands. “I have to look good on stage, so I have a stylist who takes care of that for me. I wear something different for every performance.”
Watch
Marco says he buys casual clothes himself. “I buy what I like. I also like a good watch and holidays are very important to me, discovering wonderful new places, usually where it is warm. On my wish list is a tour of America. That seems fantastic to me.”
He concludes: “I am proud of what I have achieved, although I often think: it could be better. But overall I am satisfied. I see someone who has worked hard and is reaping the benefits.”
