The new biathlon season rang in with the start in Östersund at the weekend. Who can secure the first World Cup points?
Last season, Franziska Preuß was able to become the overall World Cup winner with outstanding performances. Expectations are correspondingly high for the 2025/2026 Olympic season. In addition to her, Janina Hettich-Walz is also the first German mother to compete in the World Cup. In addition, Marlene Fichtner and Anna Weidel have secured the last free places in the DSV women’s squad.
Philipp Nawrath, Philipp Horn, Justus Strelow, Danilo Riethmüller, Simon Kaiser and Lucas Fratzscher are competing in the men’s category. However, the fans will have to do without Johannes Kühn and Roman Rees, who missed out on the team for the first World Cup races.
