Alexander Bolshunov has been banned from competing in Russia for the time being. He told about it, among other things Match TV.
The Russian Ski Federation held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday and stripped Bolshunov of his right to compete. He may return to the starting line only when Alexander Bakurov has recovered from his injury.
Bakurov was injured on Saturday when Bolshunov elbowed him in the back in the goal area. In the sprint semi-final of the Russian Cup, the two came into contact, as a result of which Bolšunov fell.
The three-time Olympic champion got so hot that he attacked Bakurov from behind in the goal area.
Sport-Express according to Bolshunov released the video on Tuesday before the meeting of the Russian Ski Federation. In the video, the Russian did not apologize to Bakurov, but said he regretted his actions.
In addition, he said that he went to church and “prostrated himself before God”.
– You will never see anything like this from me again. I intend to be a role model for the younger generation of skiers, Bolšunov said.
At the same time, however, he wondered why so many skiers and sports celebrities criticized him through the media.
– I would rather sort things out face to face.
