US envoy Witkoff to Moscow on Monday for Ukraine talks
News of Witkoff’s visit follows negotiations earlier on Sunday between top Trump administration officials and a Ukrainian delegation in Florida. Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner also took part in the negotiations, which were “very productive”, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
It was announced on Friday that an American delegation would come to Moscow next week to discuss proposals for peace in Ukraine. An original 28-point proposal was adjusted and shortened after discussions with Ukraine and other European powers. Russia announced on Friday that it will only speak to the Americans if it is clear on which points there is agreement.
After Sunday’s talks in Miami, Rubio said he informed Russia about the talks with the Ukrainian delegation.
