Jakarta has surpassed Tokyo as the largest city in the world. The Indonesian capital currently has 42 million inhabitants. This is striking, because six years ago Jakarta, with ‘only’ 11 million inhabitants, was in 33rd place in the rankings. But a new calculation method from the United Nations (UN) has changed that.
