KuPS’s effective Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek was tested by his compatriots at the international UEFA press conference on Wednesday before the Conference League match against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

With Piotr Parzyszek there are also relatives watching the match at the local Chorten Arena on Thursday night.

– Unfortunately, my parents have passed away, but my aunt and uncle are there, Parzyszek revealed.

Parzyszek’s own family lives in Holland, as his wife is Dutch.

– I am very happy to be able to play in my home country against a team that I have often faced before. I have good memories here. Even now, at KuPS, we want to play well here, and we’re not just going to hide in playing long balls, Parzyszek said.

– We are probably underdogs beforehand, but we focus on our own work. The pressure regarding the Veikkausliiga is over, so we now want good results above all from the Conference League.

In any case, Parzyszek is one of the few KuPS players whose contract will continue if the extension to February is confirmed.

– I have a contract until June. Beyond that I don’t know, I just want to focus on these games now. However, I have an option available in the contract. Let’s see what happens.

High level

Parzyszek has played in the Veikkausliiga and the Polish league in many other European countries, so he knows well how to assess the current level of the Polish league.

– When I left the Polish league, even then the level was really good. Still, a lot of development has taken place since then. I would argue that the Polish league is currently among the eight best leagues in Europe and the world. You can be very proud of the level of Polish football.

Parzyszek also has a couple of players in the Bialystok team that he knows very well.

Taras Romanczuk and Jesus Imaz are players I have played against several times. From our point of view, it is lucky that Imaz is banned from the game. He is one of the best in his team.

By the way, Parzyszek was born in Torun, Poland, which is known as the world capital of speedway. However, Parzyszek did not become a speedway driver.

– Speedway is interesting, and the sport is really very big in Torun, but I have never tried the sport myself.
