The Federal Council approves a law that concretely encourages the use of young people. The president: “Limitations or measures that Italians impose are not possible, the only solution is to encourage their use”
The FIGC moves from words to deeds. This morning the Federal Council approved a rule, included in the National Licensing Manual, which concretely favors young Italians. President Gabriele Gravina explains: “It is based on the principle defined in the strategic plan approved in March 2024, which provides for the value of the Expanded Labor Cost indicator to pass from the current 0.8 to 0.7 in the summer of 2026, a value that is used for the so-called ‘market block’ for Serie A clubs. To favor the policy of valorising young people also with respect to international standards, we have allowed that costs and related costs will be excluded from this numerator amortizations of the Under 23s selectable for the Italian national teams. For the B and C teams there is the possibility of making the same type of consideration for the Under 21s”. An innovation that could lead to an effective revolution and transformation of our football, with clear advantages also from a national perspective.

Returning to young people, Gravina says: “Limitations or provisions that impose the use of Italians are not possible, they conflict with international law. What can be done is to provide incentives, there is already the hypothesis of a legal provision or a modification of the Melandri law. A cultural change is needed in the nurseries”.

Italy playoff chapter: “The postponement of the 30th matchday is not feasible, the calendar is clogged. What if the fate of the FIGC is linked to that of the national team? There is no rule on this, within us there is a principle of democracy, I received 98% of the preferences. Then there are some reflections to be made linked to choices of responsibility and of a personal nature, but it is too early to talk about it. I am optimistic, we will go to the World Cup. The FIFA regulations for the qualifiers are known, there is no point in looking anomalies Of course, if there is a ranking perhaps some companies could deserve some advantages”.
