A new triumph for Italy in the Davis Cup. And, this year too, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has renewed the invitation to the Quirinale for the Italian team that today beat Spain in the final in Bologna. In an official note, Mattarella himself “sent his warmest congratulations to the national tennis team for this new victory in the Davis Cup and invited the athletes to the Quirinale to express them personally”.

Already two years ago the Head of State was supposed to meet the Italians fresh from their Davis Cup triumph in Malaga just before Christmas 2023, 47 years after the first success in Santiago de Chile, but then the appointment was postponed to February 2024 due to the commitments of the players. Last January 29th, then, a new appointment celebrated in the Hall of Mirrors of the Quirinale for Italy which had done an encore in Davis in 2024. On the occasion together with the girls who triumphed in the Billie Jean King Cup. Now, after the third consecutive success, we just need to find the date for this umpteenth embrace between Davis’ Italy and the President of the Republic.
