A motorist crashed into two trees on Oosterhoutseweg at high speed on Sunday evening after a police chase. The devastation on the road between Raamsdonkveer and Oosterhout is enormous. The driver was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.
Debris from the crash was scattered across the road on Sunday evening. The engine block of the car ended up on the road. There is nothing left of the car.
The driver of the car who was speeding was stopped by officers during a laser check near Oosterhout. A police spokesperson could not say exactly where this check was on Sunday evening. The driver ignored the stop sign, after which officers decided to give chase.
On the Oosterhoutseweg the driver was driving 140 kilometers per hour, while a speed of 60 kilometers per hour is permitted there. The car crashed into two trees at high speed. The driver was responsive after the accident, but was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries.
The driver’s license has been confiscated and the person has been arrested. Nothing is yet known about the identity of the driver.
