Thom van Campen, youngest Speaker of the House: ‘Give people six months to develop themselves’
On Tuesday, Thom van Campen was elected as the new chairman of the House of Representatives. Three rounds of voting were needed to select a chairman. The VVD member trumps incumbent chairman Martin Bosma (PVV) and GL/PvdA member Tom van der Lee. Van Campen ultimately received 79 votes, Bosma 69. At 35 years old, Van Campen is the youngest Speaker of the House ever. Bosma is disappointed that he has to hand over the hammer again after two years.
