Lotta Hintsa, 37, could not have predicted the big change that came to her life. Love came and swept the mountaineer off his feet, and now he is expecting his first child.

Mountaineer Lotta Hintsa37, swore to his family three years ago that if he tries to bring any male retale to the screen again, the game must be whistled. Hintsa had decided to live a single life and create a career as a professional adventurer.

However, the opposite happened. In the back room of the MLL Up fashion show Beat-a receipt for a “pretty face” thrown at the actress turned the wheel of fate, and soon a date invitation flashed on Instagram.

Now Lotta is married to actor Sebastian Rejman, 47, who sent the invitation, and is expecting their first child. You could say that it suddenly escalated.

– His authenticity stopped me. Before, I only had a light understanding of the whole person, and you can’t know the deepest core of someone based on the headlines, says Lotta Hintsa-Rejman now.

In public, he wants to use his own surname. It suits Lota’s personality well, because regardless of her life situation, she wants to maintain a certain sense of independence and freedom. The couple has built a life together in the center of Helsinki, and they have a retreat near Lahti in their grandmother’s old home, where the couple’s wedding was also danced in August.

Becoming a mother is both wonderful and exciting for Lota. For a large part of her pregnancy, she has been doing excellently.

– During the initial nausea, it was easier for me to be in motion. A twelve-hour day in the mountains was easier for me than a rest day, he states. Lotta also consulted doctors on the matter.

Lotta laughs when she tells about the couple’s recent 2.5-hour visit to a baby supply store. Sebastian was an experienced assembler of a stroller, while he stood next to it with wide eyes and marveled at the amount of goods in the shop, listened to the salesperson’s explanation about Isofixes and breast pumps and wondered if all this was needed with a baby.

– There is quite a lot to learn here, he updates.

Mountain climbing is still Lota’s passion. Pasi Liesimaa

However, visiting the baby bubble made the situation more real. The calculated time is from the beginning of the year, so the h-moment is already approaching fast and in the last third, time seems to go faster.

– Just last weekend, I took the Hupihaikki camp in Pallas, and I never once thought that I was pregnant. Sometimes I still forget it, and then a little kick in the stomach reminds me. Or the fact that the jacket no longer fits. It makes you realize that aha, we’re taking up space here, he grins.

The baby, nicknamed Rambo, has recently moved to the point that he seems to be an action hero living up to his name.

– I wish I could take the child with me on my own adventures as much as possible. That’s why my first question in the baby store was, what kind of baby carriers do you have?

Father’s teachings

Lotta Hintsa wants to encourage women to engage in outdoor activities through the Hupihaikki community. Pasi Liesimaa

Lotta Hintsa has secretly created a new direction for her career, where she gathers women interested in hiking and outdoor activities together virtually and for meetings.

There is a good reason for that: in the mountains, she saw how few women there are in the sport. Lotta, who moved professionally in extreme conditions for eight years, got help from mentoring herself, and now wants more women to get out into nature and take up space in outdoor activities, which for her is basically a man’s world.

– From the point of view of pregnancy, this is not the easiest choice when training is still a priority, but at the same time I felt that the time was ripe.

Lotta says that she received an incriminating message from her mountaineer colleague during her pregnancy.

– The woman wrote to me that you can no longer climb if you have children. She was pregnant herself and was going to have an abortion so she could continue climbing. That’s when I felt stopped, who am I really listening to here.

– I’ve been able to experience insanely cool adventures, but life can’t depend on just one card. If mountain climbing ends with motherhood, then it ends. It could just as well end in injury, he points out.

Lotta refers to her doctor father, who died at the age of 58 Aki Hintsan to three important questions: Do you know who you are? Do you know what you want? Are you in control of your own life?

– I mirror my own life in them quite often, he says.

– If you understand who you are, the core will not disappear, even if you use your resources for other things. It gave me the confidence to be a mother and stand on my own two feet and not be influenced by any definition from the outside. Doubters are allowed to doubt in peace.

Lotta hopes that she could keep endurance sports as a part of her life, because she loves it.

The biggest school

Lotta and Sebastian do not want to reveal the child’s gender to the public in advance. The mother-to-be says that the nest-building phase has woken up recently, when body changes have made the change more realistic.

– My breasts have grown so much that when I wear running bras, I get sores all over my body when jogging, she complains.

Eleven kilos of pregnancy already make moving more difficult. The baby may wake him up in the morning, and sleep will not come to his eyes.

– What I was most afraid of beforehand was that if I couldn’t continue doing the same things. While climbing mountains, I learned that you have to be prepared for things not going as you planned. It was the biggest school, because before I went through the gray stone. We have had to humble ourselves to the fact that nature always wins.

– I have the same attitude towards this pregnancy. I am open and adventurous, I take one step at a time.

The nurse at the clinic told Lota the words that at first rang in her ears.

– He reminded me not to push through the pain. That’s not the point at this stage of life. Now you have to learn where the line is.

Lotta knows that her family’s support will support her in the new phase. Sebastian’s spouse’s two elementary school children are excited about their future sibling.

– Every week we check the application to see which animal size the baby is.

When Lotta goes to Kebnekainen in Sweden and Iceland next year with the women of the Hupihaikki community, her mother has already signed up as a babysitter.

– And Sebastian is of course also involved in the care of his child as a father, Lotta adds.

– I have seen how practical a father he is. In the past, I was afraid in parenting that responsibility would be shared equally. That it goes so that you yourself take 90 percent of the responsibility and the other person has ten percent of everything. In the slobbering world I used to be in, it was normal. It has been important for me to go into this thing as a team.

Pregnancy is also associated with longing, because Aki’s father is no longer here.

– I often wonder if my father had met Sebu. I know they would have gotten along really well. I wish he could have been a grandfather to my child. However, life had a different plan.

For her upcoming Christmas, Lotta hopes that her family will be together. Pasi Liesimaa

Next Christmas, Lotta and her husband Sebastian will spend time as a family in Jyväskylä, and make their own Christmas visits. According to Lota, one of the highlights of family Christmas is traditional Christmas skiing.

– I’m looking forward to what the skiing will look like for me. On our classic route, we’re always excited to see who pulls past one bend after the downhill, he laughs.

– Maybe this year I’ll skip the downhill – I’m definitely not skipping skiing. At Christmas, I also focus on good food, family and togetherness.
