Nuis had to start in the B group because he was disqualified from the World Cup competition in Salt Lake City a week earlier. He almost crashed in a corner and knocked off a block. Thanks to the victory in Calgary, he will be riding in the A group again in the third World Cup in Heerenveen.

Joep Wennemars, Jenning de Boo and Tim Prins will later compete in the A-group.

Kai Verbij set a time of 1.08.49. He finished sixteenth in the B group.

Beau Snellink best at 5000 meters in B group

Beau Snellink won the 5000 meters in the B group at the World Cup competitions in Calgary. The 24-year-old skater was the best in the competition with a quartet start in a personal record of 6.06.99. Compatriot Kars Jansman finished third with a personal best of 6:08.15, behind Italian Riccardo Lorello (6:07.86).

Snellink was unable to promote to the A group a week earlier at the World Cup in Salt Lake City with a fifth place, but is now doing so. Marcel Bosker finished eighth with 6.13.17.

Sanne in ‘t Hof had previously finished second in the B group in the 3000 meters. The 27-year-old skater had to tolerate only the German Josie Hofman (3.57.71) with a time of 3.57.78. Elisa Dul came 23rd with 4.06.36.
